One weekend and you never repeat it. Compulsory for the PER, the Patrón de Yate and the Capitán de Yate — done once, valid for all three. In Spain it's called the ROCA.

What you'll be able to do

  • Put out a MAYDAY correctly, which is the real reason this course exists
  • Use DSC and digital selective calling
  • Work the distress, urgency and safety communication protocols
  • Handle the actual radio set, not a diagram of one

Four hours of theory and eight on the simulator, usually over a weekend. Regular intakes, and alternative dates on request if those don't work for you.

Questions about this course

If you took the PER without the SRC, yes — it's compulsory to operate the radio, and every charter boat carries one.

No. The regulation is explicit: once passed, it doesn't need repeating for any other qualification.

No. They're different courses, and the PNB one doesn't replace the SRC.
